Baobei likes the water alot!

Some pics of her having great fun during her 1st swim @ the baby pool @ Caribbean on 28 Dec 08, when she was 6 mths 27 daes old..

Today, when DIL brought her for her daily walks n let her dip her feet in the pool, she actually jerked downwards and part of her body slipped into the water! Gave DIL a shock! Haha! MIL said she got so excited at seeing the water, must have remembered what great fun she had wif us the last time... haha!

This year's Xmas is a special one for us, our 1st Xmas wif Baobei =)

She may not be able to vocalise her feelings and thoughts, but can see from her reaction of squeals and laughter at the Xmas lightings and trees that she likes the decorations alot... she particularly likes the Xmas trees with flashing lights =) She will try to reach out for the lights and will squeal with delight when we bring her away from them... haha!

She has also started to open up to other people, unlike previously when she will cringe her face and cry when people approach her... now, she will stare hard at the people and need time to warm up to them... but still, she won't let other people carry her, can play with her but no carrying... still shy in that sense...

Brought her to my year-end gathering in office on Xmas Eve... everything well pretty well, my colligs helped me out alot, esp when me nid to take toilet breaks... could hear her cries from within the toilet when Ting carried her... oops... Cheong Ling and Ting also took food for me while me carried Baobei (she dozed off in my arms)...

Dearie had his frenz over on 27 Dec, n gave a pretty touching speech... the dinner we prepared was dessert-heavy, like hei ice-cream from Awfully Chocolate, 4 other tubs of Haagen Daz n Ben & Jerry's ice-cream and 1 banana-chocolate cake from Secret Recipe. Dinner was 4 medium pizzas from Canadian Pizza.... hope his frenz had enuff to eat... our nest became super havoc, cos his frenz played Guitar Hero and Winning Eleven on the PS3... they had so much fun playing as a team!

We also brought Baobei for a swim yesterday @ Caribbean... she had so much fun! She naturally kicked her legs and moved her arms when we put her in the water... remembered the 1st time Dearie tried to let her play in the water abt 2 weeks ago, she was not so receptive and actually cried... but yesterday, she welcomed the water! haha! put her in the float and she just leaned back and relaxed... so cute... yesterday was also my 1st time putting on swimwear after delivery... flabby flabby...

Was a happy ger ydae =) Dearie gave me very pleasant surprise yesterday... he got me a touchscreen phone - LG KP500 =)

He knew I have been looking around for a touchscreen phone which can replace my pda n current phone... so that I dont need to carry pda n phone around... was greatly interested in the iPhone but it doesnt allow calendar search =( if i want to find out when a meeting takes place, the iPhone doesnt allow... not even 3rd party applications... moreover, only Singtel carries the iPhone and I am a M1 customer, dont see the need to switch service providers too... =P

So was very happy whn Dearie found the LG KP500, which me find slim n suits my needs... Thanks Dearie! =) U oso spent the whole of last nite setting up the phone - calendar, contacts etc for me, so that I can use it today...

Baobei is 6 months old today! =) How time flies...

She is very playful... likes to play even when she's drinking milk... we have to resort to feeding her in quiet places and nobody should go near her, else she will refuse to drink her milk and wanna play instead... we often have to distract her with her favourite toys too...

She has also grown to recognise her surroundings... in unfamiliar places or with unfamiliar faces, she will look around and explore the new place interestedly... for unfamiliar faces, her reaction is instantaneous, with her screwing her face and crying especially at men who get too near her... Dearie said good too, at least she wouldnt b kidnapped... b4 the kidnapper can get near her, he/she will be scared off by her cries... haha!

She now weighs 7.1kg and measures 71cm long... Dr Ng said her weight is in the norm/average range and her height belongs to the higher range... Baobei has developed some rough patches of skin on her thighs and arms... Dr Ng said it's slight eczema... hope will clear up as she gets older... *cross fingers*

Have decided to continue BF Baobei... initially had planned to stop at the 6th month mark, but decided otherwise... we let her try infant cereal during the weekend... set up camera, placed her bib around her neck and fed her small mouthfuls... she still doesnt know how to swallow, cos with each mouthful Dearie gave her, she would spit it out... hmm... wonder when she'll learn to swallow properly?!?! she's very excited and leans forward for each mouthful, but just couldn't swallow and would spit it out... hmmm...
DeWdRoPs
BoldBrought Baobei back to my parents' place once a week, on every Sundays...

Initially, for the first few times, Baobei would look around the living room n at my parents n siblings, n cringed her face and started crying... think she was scared of unfamiliar faces and surroundings...

So for the last weeks, Dearie would go in first and ask my parents and siblings not to rush forward in enthusiasm when they see Baobei... A few minutes later, me would enter wif Baobei and try to get her to familiarise with the new faces and surroundings... Our efforts pay off today! She warmed up almost immediately to them and started chuckling and playing with them! Me felt so happy! At least my parents and siblings will not feel 'detached' from Baobei now, as I can understand how they must have felt when Baobei always cried in the past when they tried to play with her!

However, she is still scared of unfamiliar faces... especially when guys come closer to her and talk to/touch her... she will cry but still look warily at them with watery eyes... hee... scared but still wanna look... at least we don't need to worry about her being 'kidnapped'... cos before the kidnapper can do so, he/she may be scared off by her wails... haha!

Baobei managed to turn over onto her tummy successfully at 5.5 months! =) Since 4 months, she has been trying to turn over but somehow or other, one of her hands would be stuck beneath her body and she could not get her hand out... she would be very frustrated when she couldn't turn over successfully...

So we had to help her turn onto her tummy when we saw her trying to turn... cos it's important to let them play on their tummies...

We were so happy when we saw her turn successfully! Sis-in-law took videos and posted on you-tube too... hee! Since then, Baobei would take every opportunity to turn onto her tummy and play, even in her sleep!

2 nights ago, heard her make noises while she was sleeping... walked over and checked on her... and guess what? She was on her tummy, making baby noises! Luckily her neck is strong enough and she can keep her head raised for quite a while! Else, will be so worrying...

Dearie bought a new toy for himself, to pamper & reward himself for the late nights and Sat burnt... he has been very busy at work for the past week...

The new toy he bought is a PS3 game, Guitar Hero World Tour. It comes with a complete band set comprising a microphone, drum set and guitar! He's playing the game now, so funni, behaving like a little kid again... Now that Baobei is taking a nap before we go to my parents' place for lunch, Dearie has his headphones on so as not to disturb her... but can stil hear him hitting away at the drums... Glad he has more avenues to relax =)

Yesterdae, Dearie was at Tekong since morning and onli came back around 7pm... So itz jus me & Baobei... quite fun bringing her for her morning and evening walks and bathing her alone... when she slept, me quickly bathed, had meals, vacuumed floor etc... spent a good dae wif her =)
DeWdRoPs
Baobei likes to go for walks, not once daily, but twice daily... morning walk @ around 8am & evening walk @ around 5pm...

My in-laws always bring her for walks around the swimming pool or lounge or even to the Clubhouse @ Marina @ Keppel Bay... Sometimes in the mornings, DIL will bring Baobei & MIL to Harbourfront for breakfast...

Below are some pics taken during Baobei's walks =)

Out for evening walk... Baobei was very curious @ the surroundings & squealed & chuckled @ dancing leaves in the wind
DIL had brought her to Keppel @ Marina Bay... Baobei was chuckling @ dancing leaves in the wind... so happy! haha!
Taken with her aunt (Dearie's sis)...
Baobei likes the new sensation of coldness! We have even tried letting her touch ice which elicited more chuckles & squeals from her.
Baobei likes flowers, actively reaching out to them... beware of damaging public property! haha!

How time flies! Baobei turns 5 months tomorrow! =)

She is very interactive and communicates with us more readily now... when we call out her name, she will turn to us and smile at us... when she sees people or things she likes, she will chuckle and sometimes squeal in delight! =) She also learns to make kissing/smooching sounds or goldfish shapes with her mouth now, never fails to make us laugh!

MIL said yesterday, DIL and she brought Baobei out for lunch at Harbourfront... Baobei was in a very good mood... she smiled and squealed at even total strangers in the lift... she's like me, very scared of warm surroundings, so she enjoyed herself in the air-conditioned shopping centre =) DIL showed us the pics of her smiling and having fun... there was 1 pic of her holding a glass of cold water n holding it close to her mouth... MIL said she nearly drank the water n enjoyed the touch of the cold cup! haha! When she came back, she kept sticking her tongue, MIL deduced she must have learnt this from people she met in the dae...

Brought her for her jabs (2nd dose of routine DPT n Polio vaccines n the optional Pneumococcal vaccine) last Wed, 22 Oct. She oso had her last dose of the optional Rotavirus oral vaccine... We had not fed her the fever medicine from her 1st jab last month (thankfully), but Dr Ng warned this 2nd dose might cause her fever... alas, we found her restless n tired after the jabs... her body oso felt slightly warm to our touch... took her temperature but no indication of fever... however, we still gave her fever medicine, just 2b on the safe side... after the medicine n a bit of rest, she appeared normal and active again! *phew*

Below is a pic of her taken during my DIL's 53rd bdae, when Baobei was 4mth 14 daes old =) She's actually smiling! (must be MIL trying to make her laugh cos she was not looking at the camera...)

This is the 1st time both Dearie & me don't regret returning from our holidays... In the past, on the last day of our holidays, both of us would be sad at how time seemed to fly when we had fun and wished that time would just stop and we did not need to return... But this time, we actually look forward to coming back!

Touched down Singapore at around 2350hrs on 22 Oct 08... took cab home and quickly went to sleep so that early next morning, we could fetch our darling girl back from my in-laws =) Felt very relieved that I could finally use my Medela Pump! In Tokyo, the voltage differs and I couldn't use the pump at all... had to rely on my fingers to do the work... very tiring... =(

Charlotte took a while to warm up to Dearie, guess it was because he hadn't seen her for nearly 2 weeks... She seems to have grown so much since I left for Tokyo on 17 Oct 08! She has more facial expressions now and smiles more readily at us... Her neck is also sturdier now and she can hold her head for a substantial period of time while we hold her facing forward...

Brought her back home... again, she took a while to familiarise herself, after staying with my in-laws for nearly 2 weeks... She seems to have attachment issues, fearing we will leave her again... cos when we put her down even to change her diapers (which she used to like a lot), she will cry her head off! Only when we carry her close to us again, will she calm down...

Oh no... hope we can give her the re-assurance that this will be our 1st and last holiday without her! Next holiday will surely be taken with her (albeit it could be many years down the road)... but both of us really missed her even though we had fun spending time together in Tokyo during our 5 days there...

After 1 week of absence, Dearie n me finalli met in Tokyo! =)

Dis is my 1st time on a plane alone! Felt so 'independent' and 'more adult'... haha! Dearie had packed most of my clothes in his luggage whn he left for US for his conference... so me onli packed my daily essentials n pump (both the Medela electricity operated dual pump n Pigeon battery operated indiv pump)...

Dearie had selected an aisle seat for me on UA flight, so more convenient in going to restrooms... to my horror, the Pigeon pump didnt work 4me! Tried several ways but jus wun work effectively... so resorted to using hands... v v tiring... nt effective in draining too, onli managed to relieve them... so during each toilet break taken, my fingers wil go to work...

Me touched down @ Narita Airport 1hr earlier than Dearie n waited 4him near the Arrival Hall... whn his plane finalli touched down (10 mins' delay), waited 4him for nearli an hour... started to panick, cos worried wld hv missed him... then cot sight of a passenger who jus got out n his luggage was tagged wif a UA tag, asked him if his was Dearie's flight, he said yes! PHEW! so relieved, dat we hvn missed each other! Then saw Dearie come out! So happi 2c him after 1 whole week! =)

Tdy is our 2nd dae in Tokyo... jus came back fr shopping @ Akibahara (paradise to Dearie), gonna turn in soon... timing here is 1 hour earlier of Singapore time... tmr is more shopping @ Shibuya n Ginza (collecting my reserved items @ Burberry)...

Missing Baobei... hope catch her on webcam tmr, cos by the time we came back tonite, she's oredi asleep...

This week has not been a good week 4me... Mon experienced severe pain n milk refused to come out no matter wat methods me use to relieve the pain... warm, cold compresses... massages... milk stil refused to come out... as it was onli 1 side, there were obvious differences in the amount of milk collected in both bottles after each express session... felt realli sad n demoralised, realli felt like giving up... cos it was realli painful, cried... *sobz*

@ 1st, thot after a few daes, the pain wil subside n the milkflow wil resume to normal... but the pain stil remains n got worse... finalli on thur, decided to call Dr Lui... he referred me to the bfeeding consultant, Sister Kang, @ MAH... she said nt engorgement (as wld happen to both sides), but blocked ducts... she said nid to drain it else wld get infection... she pressed down on the blocked gland n massaged (PAIN!!!!), thn pressed all the way down.... thn she hand-expressed into a bottle... dis took quite a while... she managed to clear the major blocks but me stil nid to clear the minor blocks myself every 3 hrs (following her methods)... she oso told me to watch out for fever cos wld b a sign of infection or worse, mastitis.

The next dae in office, stil experienced pain n milkflow stil felt blocked... followed her method but stil super painful... complained to my female colligs n tears jus flowed down whn they showed concern n understood (as they went thru b4 too)... @ abt 4pm, felt feverish n giddy... went back 2c Dr Lui who upon consulting Sister Kang, prescribed me antibiotics, fever medicine n pills to relieve the pain n swelling... he oso gave me a prescription to get over @ MAH, in case me decided to stop bfeeding... he sorta chided me 4 seeing him @ the last minute... sighz... thot me cld relieve it myself ma...

Realli hope the pain wil subside n milkflow wil resume to normal... *pray hard*

This clip was taken today =) Baobei is 4 months 10 daes oredi! Very fun n happy 2c her growing n responding to us each dae...

She doesnt mind playing on her tummy these daes oredi... in the 1st few months when Dearie put her on her tummy, she disliked it a lot n wld cry... but nw, whn she's trying to turn over, we wil gif her a helping hand, n turn her over on her tummy... she wil raise her head high n look @ us (oohing n ahing @ her efforts)... mebbe cos she's exerting alot of strength in keeping her head high, she will make a lot of sounds too...

As Dearie is away in US, his sis posted this clip on You-Tube so dat he could view it whn he touches down... sure Dearie wil miss Baobei alot... cos Dearie is away, Baobei's staying over @ my in-laws n me wil go over in the dae-time 2c her... Dearie wil b transiting in Tokyo on his way back on Sat, n me wil b flying over to meet him for a 5d get-away in Tokyo! =)

Baobei's having cradle cap and she tends to perspire alot, which makes the cradle cap worse... We followed Dr Ng's advice of applying olive oil on her hair n using brush to brush her cap, which would remove the flakes... it did help abit, but as her infant hair is oso dropping n leaving white patches around the back of her head, we thot might as well gif her a proper haircut on her 4th month =), hopefully her cradle cap wil go off n her hair wil grow nicer...

We brot her to Harbourfront for the haircut... it was her 1st time having a haircut (cos on her 1st month, we onli snipped off some of her hair)... she did not like it @ all! she cried n fussed n screamed... aiyo... took us n the hairdresser a long time to calm her down... she din like the rubber coat around her n me, nor did she like the hairdresser touching her... in between the cut, me had to bring her in n out of the shop to calm her down while Dearie n MIL tried to distract her wif toys...

Finally it was over... she looked different n fresher wif shorter hair =) Dearie said she looked like a xiao3 he2 shang4... me flipz...

Before her haircut
After her haircut (eyes still red from the crying)

Found these pics taken during Dearie's ABSD Anniversary Dinner on 15 Aug 08... the theme was 50's Gala Nite... we decided on chinese wear, which is easier to find =P Dearie bot his top @ Shanghai Tang @ $200+ while my top was bot @ Madame Butterfly @ $80+...

stil had extra weight on me then... jus weighed myself... nw tipping the scales @ 2kg more than my pre-pregnancy weight... realli hope to shed off the weight soon or betta stil, get slimmer than my pre-pregnancy size, but the bulge ard my tummy area stil refused to go off... =((

Felt a sudden sharp pain (@ my sides) in my back aft my shower ydae... was squatting down to pick up strands of hair on the floor when me felt sharp jabs of pain in my back when trying to get up... Dearie asked if me nid to go A&E, given itz Sun n most clinics were closed... told him no nid to, cos din wanna bring Baobei to hospital unnecessarily... he said could drop her @ my in-laws' b4 going A&E... but me din wan... so decided to rest more n monitor the situation...

Dis morn, stil v painful, esp whn me tried getting up fr bed.. oso had probs walking... Dearie had to support me... had to get over the initial sharp pains b4 the pains became more bearable n me could walk properly, albeit stil unnaturally... Baobei seems to noe me in pain, she din fuss as much whn Dearie carried her... cos usualli Dearie had trouble pacifying her cries, but last nite n dis morn, she was ok wif Dearie pacifying her!

As usual, we dropped Baobei @ my in-laws' dis morn, b4 Dearie brot me to the clinic (he took urgent leave tdy)... Doc Tan said my backache could hv been a result of nt enuff rest, he deduced so fr my sleep pattern daily (waking up @ 0530
on weekdaes n 0700 on weekends n sleeping @ 2200+ daily)... he oso advised me nt to wake up to breastfeed Baobei in the middle of the nites, so Dearie said he would bottle-feed her.... gonna b taxing for Dearie, until my back gets betta @ least... Dr Tan said to observe for 1-2 weeks, if my backache does nt go off then, wil nid to go c him again... (kips fingers crossed wil get betta then, in time for our Tokyo trip fr 18-22 Oct)

Given 2d mc to rest @ hm, instructed to lie in bed, to relieve my back muscles... Dr Tan gave me medicine for fever/pain n hyperacidity... Dearie oso made sure me rested in bed, n on standby wheneva me nid to move ard... MIL oso offered to let Baobei sleep over @ her plc tonite, so dat me can ample rest... =)

Actualli dis is nt the 1st time me hv backache... in the past, had sneezed too hard n resulted in backache too!

how time flies... Baobei is 3.5 mths old oredi... nw dat me had returned to work, didnt have so much opportunities to take fotos of Baobei liao... luckily my sis-in-law wil take her fotos whn we leave her @ my in-laws... below r some of the nicer shots taken by her... =)

we were lucky dat these moments were captured despite us nt being present to witness them! the last pic was taken by Dearie on our bed... hee!

we did not shave Baobei's hair during her 1st month as we didnt bear to do so, given her nice crop of hair... nw dat she is 3.5 months old, she is dropping her baby hair... whn we carry her outta her cot aft her sleep, we can see some strands of her hair cot in her pillow... there r now abt 2 white patches on her head, think resulted from the dropping of her hair... sad but MIL said itz ok, as baby hair, or tai1 mao2, wil fall off gradually n new hair wil grow back... me hv oso seen some babies wif a white trail around their head, think most prob oso resulting fr dropping of baby hair...

nt jus Baobei's dropping hair... me oso dropping hair... whn me run my fingers thru my hair, a few strands of my hair wil get cot among my fingers... sometimes as many as 5... quite scary... normally, me wil oso drop hair, esp during showers, but nt so easily as nw jus by running my fingers thru my hair... sighz... my colligs said dropping hair aft delivery is normal, hair wil grow back... but stil... Dearie said nvm, my hair is thick enuff to withstand the dropping n hair loss is nt too alarming... but stil... =(

Decided to try the look-alike meter again 4 Baobei @ 3 months...

Results... Ta-Da...

Brought Baobei for her 3rd month check-up tdy... as Dearie has been v bz this month, we hv been postponing her appointment thrice, fr 1 Sep (her 3rd month) to 10 Sep (Dearie's bdae off) to finalli tdy, a Sat... purposely timed her feed jus b4 her visit so dat she'll b in her best mood n cooperate during the check-up...

Baobei has nw grown to 63.5cm and weighs 5.9kg. =) Her head circumference nw measures 41cm... Dr Ng asked abt her feeds, told him 120ml every 3.5hrs... he said ok... thn asked wat milk, told him still breastmilk... he said gd =) he said Baobei is growing well n responding well...

Baobei realli cooperated during her body check-up... Dr Ng moved a toy in front of her from right to left n she followed the movement intently =) Dr Ng 'probed' her body here n there n she din resist @ all =) While Dr Ng administered the jabs, Dearie distracted her attention wif a musical toy, she was v interested in the toy until she felt the pain n she cried... poor ger! but upon carrying her up n coaxing her, she calmed down v fast =) told her she's our brave little ger =) she had 3 jabs tdy, the routine DPT n Polio vaccines n the optional P
neumococcal vaccine... we oso let her hv the optional Rotavirus oral vaccine... Dr Ng said the 2 routine jabs tdy might gif her slight fever, nt lasting more than 2 daes, so he oso prescribed fever medicine 4 Baobei... nid to watch her temperature closely for the nxt few daes...

Jus carried Baobei n had my cheek touch her forehead... felt it quite warm... told Dearie, he took her temperature n said no fever lah... said itz me being paranoid aft hearing wat Dr Ng said dis morn... hee... me starting 2b a paranoid mummy liao =(
DeWdRoPs
Baobei has a strong grip =) ydae, we decided to remove her mittens during dae time so dat she can move her fingers freely n touch things around her... trimmed her nails while she was sleeping (dun dare to trim her nails whn she's awake...)

She has so much fun wif her hands!

1) When we feed her, she wil place her hands on the milk bottle, as if trying to hold it... but of course, her grip is not strong enuff yet...

2) Whenever she has the chance, she will stuff her whole hand into her mouth... Dearie's aunt said if she sucks her thumb, she likes her daddy.... if she sucks her index finger, she likes her mummy... but she sucks all her fingers! it means she likes everybody, fr daddy to mummy to grandparents etc... haha

3) She holds the rattle firmly in her hand n shakes it enthusiastically, n chuckling @ the same time! in the past, she can onli wave her hands about, n brushing stuff in the process, but ydae she managed to grab it n shake it! she wil smile @ us when the rattle sounds when she shakes it!

4) She particularly likes to listen to music, so we bot a couple of those musical toys where we pull a string, the string will slowly retract while the toy plays music, some parts of the toy wil oso move in rhythm to the music.... her face brightens up when she sees the toy! she wil oso try to tug @ the string n hold it firmly, as if trying to activate the music...

5) She wil oso grab our fingers when we play wif her...

6) Last nite, she did something realli sweet to me! =) was toking to her n she used her hand to touch my face while looking @ me! =) Felt so blessed! =)))) Realli made my dae!

tdy is our 100th mth anniversary of being together =) how time flies! Baobei has also turned 3 mths...

as usual, we had our monthly neo-cards taken last weekend.... Baobei has grown so much... she nw occupies much more space in her car seat n can turn in a clockwise direction while sleeping in her cot... dis morn, she turned 90 degrees jus 1 hr aft me put her down... one moment she was lying on her side horizontally in her cot, the nxt moment we looked @ her, she was still lying on her side, but vertically! haha! her legs n head were touching the sides of her cot oredi...

Baobei's fav sleeping position, when she is still sleeping horizontally...

she has nw settled into a time table, n we try nt to disrupt her time table too much... so nw for nite activities, 1 of us wil usualli stay @ hm... but for activities like mutual frenz' weddings, MIL will take care of her @ her plc... parenthood, we mus say, is full of sacrifices, but we dun mind, seeing our little ger grow daily, interacting n smiling wif us... =))

sighz... me down wif flu again... been sneezing n sniffing since Mon... thot will recover on my own n din c doc... but ydae morn, woke up wif a heavy head n blocked/runny nose... so decided to c doc n rest @ hm...

we still brot Baobei to my in-laws in the morn b4 Dearie sent me hm n he left for work... @ hm, quickly went to bed again n slept til 10+ am... stil felt flu-ish, so went 2c doc... doc said my nose was confused (dunno 2b blocked/runny) cos of the bad weather these daes... me quite amused by his diagnosis... he gave me flu medicine which had been tested on nursing mums for 40 yrs but might cause drowsiness to babies... me asked whether he had any non-drowsy medicine, but he said those had not been tested on nursing mothers yet... so me took the medicine b4 sleep as Baobei tended to sleep longer n wouldnt feed so frequently...

Baobei has more or less settled into a timetable =) wakes up for her morn feed @ 5+am, wakes up briefly when we carries her outta her cot n brings her to my in-laws, plays briefly wif my in-laws b4 sleeping in her swing cradle... her biological clock is sometimes more accurate than my alarm clock! she wil wake me up b4 my alarm goes off! hee! her feeds are now more regular, 120ml every 3.5hrs, instead of the previous 'feed-on-demand' schedule =)

back to work tdy, but stil sniffing on n off... think the flu bug is stil within me... =(( hope wil get well soon n wun spread the virus to Baobei...

Me was supposed to return from maternity leave on 25 Aug (Mon), but after discussing wif Dearie, decided to return 1 dae earlier, on 22 Aug (Fri) instead... the idea was for me to slowly gain momentum in my work on a Fri, and rest during the weekend, instead of plunging headlong into a whole week of work on Mon...

Brot lotsa stuff to office on Fri - microwave steriliser, electrical pump, milk storage bottles & bags, freezer bag, curtain, brush, a small basin, liquid cleaner etc... luckily Dearie gave me a lift after dropping Baobei @ my in-laws... felt so sad n reluctant to leave 4 work after sending Baobei to my in-laws... was sniffing a bit when me said goodbye to her, then tears jus flowed down whn Dearie n me got into the lift =(

Back in office, my colligs were commenting me had missed the 16 weeks maternity leave benefits... Dearie n me felt itz okie... mebbe 2nd one lor, but a few years later lah... some colligs were oso shocked 2c me return to work, din noe dat 12 weeks had passed by oredi... some oso commented me had 'deflated', think me mus hv 'ballooned' alot during pregnancy... looking back @ my foto then still amazed me @ how big my tummy can stretch to accomodate Baobei, hee...

Oso, me had probs logging into my laptop, my token had been locked n there were no new emails received since my 1st dae of leave! was amazed that the system automatically suspended new emails from coming in, so as to hog my email inbox during my maternity leave?!? my collig joked dat mebbe me not supposed to come back to work yet... hee

Nowadays, when me draw the curtain, my colligs wil noe wat me doing in my cubicle, n wil gif me privacy... hee... even the cleaning auntie oso noes =)

How time flies! Will be returning to work on 22 Aug (Fri)... seems like jus not long ago when me gave birth to Charlotte... 12 weeks have jus flashed by... gonna miss spending time wif Charlotte, feeding her, playing wif her, interacting wif her, singing songs to her, changing her diapers etc everydae...

Besides preparing myself mentally for the loads of work (sobz) back in office, me oso made other preparations like getting a 'curtain' to put up @ the doorway of my cubicle, a microwave sterilizer, more milk storage bottles & bags etc... Charlotte seems to noe she will b spending her weekdae noons @ Caribbean, my in-laws' plc... she started rejecting me when me bfed her last Fri n took to taking expressed milk in bottles during the daytime... @ 1st, when she rejected me, me got so sad that me nearly cried, thinking she din wan me anymore =(( then, MIL consoled me saying she's smart, knowing she needs to drink from bottles soon anyway, so might as well start practising nw... Dearie oso said letting her drink from bottles will make things easier 4me too... @ the same time, me can practise expressing milk more often, every 4 hours....

Jus hope that back in office, me will still hv time to express, cos frequent expressing will maintain the milk supply n prevent engorgement... as me will b using an electric pump, realli hope the sounds wun disturb my neighbours @ work...

Me attended Tricia's wedding on 8 Aug 08... it was my 1st time being away from Charlotte n Dearie's 1st time taking care of her alone.... it was fun meeting up wif my colligs again n seeing the happy couple... but my mind was constantly on Charlotte... wondering if Dearie was able to cope, if Charlotte was cooperative, whether she had her feeding etc...

The kawaii gers @ my table, being the kawaii gers, saboed the wedding couple.... brot back fond memories of my wedding dinner 2 years ago when Dearie n me were oso saboed by his colligs... hee... his colligs had gone to great extent for the sabo mission, where they made 2 almond jellies resembling 'breasts' wif hershey kisses chocolate resembling nipples on them, a plate of chicken meat n a hand-toy, all of which were props of their sabo mission... we had engaged a 'live' photographer, Willie Foo, who took photographs which were immediately screened on the big screen for our guests' viewing pleasure, so it was rather embarrassing but fun! Willie oso printed the photographs of our guests in namecard sizes for them as souvenirs =)

After the dinner, CL's hubby, Rod, gave me a lift hm (Thanks, CL & Rod!) When me reached hm, Charlotte was playing wif the music mobile @ her cot & Dearie was using his laptop on the bed... hee! Thx Dearie, for taking care of Charlotte while me had fun outside =) Me oso bot Dearie a gift of cuff-links... glad he likes it n can use for his new 'Black Label' shirt bot @ G2000! =)

Both Dearie n me hv alwiz known that there are many advantages to bfeeding, for both baby and mother... so from the dae Charlotte was born, me hv been bfeeding her exclusively... it was tough @ 1st, especially when she had difficulty latching on properly... but luckily, the bfeeding consultant @ Mt A was very helpful n both Charlotte n me overcame the initial hurdles of bfeeding...

Initially, when we brought Charlotte out, me found bfeeding a great inconvenience as we nid to find nursing rooms... some nursing rooms dun provide privacy for nursing mums (no private rooms), some look unused n dirty (especially the dirty or dusty changing tables), some dun provide cushions for the hard benches... but me particularly like the rooms @ Bugis BHG n Marina Square, great privacy in a cubicle all to myself (n Dearie cos me will ask him to accompany me =)) His collig oso gave me a nursing top, which me used once in public, @ Bugis MOF, after our lunch when Charlotte oso demanded for her lunch... Remember once, me was bfeeding Charlotte in a nursing room @ Parkway Parade (a room shared by nursing mums n mums who wanna change their babies' diapers), Charlotte made a fuss n refused my milk, a Malay Auntie asked if itz my 1st child, mebbe she had deduced so from my inexperience... oh well... but now, my mindset on bfeeding had changed... found it 2b a great bonding & fulfilling journey wif Charlotte =)

Recently, there was an article in The Straits Times on the advantages of breastfeeding, in conjunction with the World Breastfeeding Week 08. The article stated that couples could save as much as $710 on formula milk from 6 months of exclusive bfeeding! Since me have been bfeeding Charlotte exclusively for 2 months, this in effect, translates to as much as $236 savings for us =) Not considered a huge sum of $$ but still...

Now, in between Charlotte's feeds (3 hour intervals), me will sometimes express the milk (oso to relieve engorgement "sobz") n store in the freezer... initially, me felt like a cow ("Moo...") =P But seeing the packets of frozen milk in the freezer brings me a great feeling of satisfaction... when me return to work, me will still need to express the milk once every 4 hours, so that my MIL can bottle feed her while me away from her @ work... hope that my supply wun drop, especially wif work stress... me realli hope 2b able to bfeed Charlotte for as long as I can... =)

My in-laws said Charlotte resembles Dearie, exactly a replica of him when he was a baby...

My parents said Charlotte
resembles me, when I was a baby too...

Hmm... seems like both our parents feel their grand-daughter
resembles their child... so we decided to try out the look-alike meter on the net... jus for fun =)

Charlotte, @ 2 months 1 dae old, dressed in the pink bodysuit which Auntie Cheongling bot 4 her.

3rd Aug 08 was our 99th month anniversary of being together. =) How time flies! Next month will mark our 100th month anniversary... Charlotte will be 3 months old by then too!

As per our monthly practice, we took our neo-cards @ Bugis Junction =) This time, we dressed Charlotte in pink... Dearie wore a red polo t-shirt while me wore a pink blouse, so as to match Charlotte's colour... We thot this way, the neo-card will turn out nice, wif us in co-ordinated colours. =P

Unlike last month when we took our neo-card, Charlotte was sleeping n looking kinda grumpy when me carried her outta her stroller, she was awake n looking more cheerful this month... indeed, she opened her mouth wide when we took the pic =)

Itz fun flipping thru our neo-card album now, where we c our journey since getting together to having a new addition - Charlotte to our family now... brings back sweet memories...

Baby Charlotte smiled her first real smile when she was 1 month 14 daes old =) Dearie n me were so elated on seeing her respond wif a smile when we called her name n smiled @ her!

The books r right... u'll know when ur little one smiles @ u... cos Charlotte's whole face realli smiles... unlike her expression on her 4th dae when she practises her smiling muscles....

Now, she will 'talk' to us in her baby language n smile when we play wif her n when she hears her favourite music from the musical toy n music mobile @
her yaolan n her cot respectively, she will either keep still, enjoying the music, or start moving her arms n legs about... she's growing dae by dae n will b 2 months old dis Fri, when we will be taking her measurements =)

Below r 2 pics of her smiles on her 4th dae n recently... the difference is quite big right?!?!

p.s. we did not capture her 1st real smile but Dearie managed to capture it much later, when she was 1 month 24 daes old...

We celebrated Charlotte's baby shower at my in-laws', the Function Room at The Caribbean @ Keppel Bay over 2 daes - 12 Jul for our frenz & colligs & 13 Jul for our relatives. As the room could only hold maximum 49 people, we decided to split the celebration into 2 parts... the venue was chosen so that we need not clean up after the events... haha!

To create a 'party' feel in the Function Room, we decorated the room wif pink n silver balloons... the caterer, Oh's Farm, was pretty impressive in their set-up, creating a zen feel... most of our guests oso gave good reviews on their food, especially their laksa =)

Both daes were quite eventful, wif Charlotte being cooperative & fussy @ times... as we needed to attend to her needs, we were really sorry should we have neglected our guests in anyway (which we regretted we did to a certain extent)...

Though some of our guests were unable to make it, they still sent their best wishes n gifts... really appreciate it!

Charlotte received many gifts, from gift vouchers to angbaos to clothes to jewellery to toys... me oso received a gift (belated birthday gift) from the kawaii girls =) a charm bracelet for mums-to-be! so surprised to receive the gift... even more surprised to learn dat the girls had bot the bracelet in my presence when we were there looking around after lunch one dae! blur me did not notice then...

Below are some of the pics taken, either by our guests or
by us (not alot were taken as we were too busy)...
Our Angel with an attitude's all ready to set off for her big dae! =)
Hope I din look too haggard from the nightly feeds, diaper changes...
Dearie had creatively spelt Charlotte's name wif the souvenirs for our guests =)
