sighz... me down wif flu again... been sneezing n sniffing since Mon... thot will recover on my own n din c doc... but ydae morn, woke up wif a heavy head n blocked/runny nose... so decided to c doc n rest @ hm...

we still brot Baobei to my in-laws in the morn b4 Dearie sent me hm n he left for work... @ hm, quickly went to bed again n slept til 10+ am... stil felt flu-ish, so went 2c doc... doc said my nose was confused (dunno 2b blocked/runny) cos of the bad weather these daes... me quite amused by his diagnosis... he gave me flu medicine which had been tested on nursing mums for 40 yrs but might cause drowsiness to babies... me asked whether he had any non-drowsy medicine, but he said those had not been tested on nursing mothers yet... so me took the medicine b4 sleep as Baobei tended to sleep longer n wouldnt feed so frequently...

Baobei has more or less settled into a timetable =) wakes up for her morn feed @ 5+am, wakes up briefly when we carries her outta her cot n brings her to my in-laws, plays briefly wif my in-laws b4 sleeping in her swing cradle... her biological clock is sometimes more accurate than my alarm clock! she wil wake me up b4 my alarm goes off! hee! her feeds are now more regular, 120ml every 3.5hrs, instead of the previous 'feed-on-demand' schedule =)

back to work tdy, but stil sniffing on n off... think the flu bug is stil within me... =(( hope wil get well soon n wun spread the virus to Baobei...

Me was supposed to return from maternity leave on 25 Aug (Mon), but after discussing wif Dearie, decided to return 1 dae earlier, on 22 Aug (Fri) instead... the idea was for me to slowly gain momentum in my work on a Fri, and rest during the weekend, instead of plunging headlong into a whole week of work on Mon...

Brot lotsa stuff to office on Fri - microwave steriliser, electrical pump, milk storage bottles & bags, freezer bag, curtain, brush, a small basin, liquid cleaner etc... luckily Dearie gave me a lift after dropping Baobei @ my in-laws... felt so sad n reluctant to leave 4 work after sending Baobei to my in-laws... was sniffing a bit when me said goodbye to her, then tears jus flowed down whn Dearie n me got into the lift =(

Back in office, my colligs were commenting me had missed the 16 weeks maternity leave benefits... Dearie n me felt itz okie... mebbe 2nd one lor, but a few years later lah... some colligs were oso shocked 2c me return to work, din noe dat 12 weeks had passed by oredi... some oso commented me had 'deflated', think me mus hv 'ballooned' alot during pregnancy... looking back @ my foto then still amazed me @ how big my tummy can stretch to accomodate Baobei, hee...

Oso, me had probs logging into my laptop, my token had been locked n there were no new emails received since my 1st dae of leave! was amazed that the system automatically suspended new emails from coming in, so as to hog my email inbox during my maternity leave?!? my collig joked dat mebbe me not supposed to come back to work yet... hee

Nowadays, when me draw the curtain, my colligs wil noe wat me doing in my cubicle, n wil gif me privacy... hee... even the cleaning auntie oso noes =)

How time flies! Will be returning to work on 22 Aug (Fri)... seems like jus not long ago when me gave birth to Charlotte... 12 weeks have jus flashed by... gonna miss spending time wif Charlotte, feeding her, playing wif her, interacting wif her, singing songs to her, changing her diapers etc everydae...

Besides preparing myself mentally for the loads of work (sobz) back in office, me oso made other preparations like getting a 'curtain' to put up @ the doorway of my cubicle, a microwave sterilizer, more milk storage bottles & bags etc... Charlotte seems to noe she will b spending her weekdae noons @ Caribbean, my in-laws' plc... she started rejecting me when me bfed her last Fri n took to taking expressed milk in bottles during the daytime... @ 1st, when she rejected me, me got so sad that me nearly cried, thinking she din wan me anymore =(( then, MIL consoled me saying she's smart, knowing she needs to drink from bottles soon anyway, so might as well start practising nw... Dearie oso said letting her drink from bottles will make things easier 4me too... @ the same time, me can practise expressing milk more often, every 4 hours....

Jus hope that back in office, me will still hv time to express, cos frequent expressing will maintain the milk supply n prevent engorgement... as me will b using an electric pump, realli hope the sounds wun disturb my neighbours @ work...

Me attended Tricia's wedding on 8 Aug 08... it was my 1st time being away from Charlotte n Dearie's 1st time taking care of her alone.... it was fun meeting up wif my colligs again n seeing the happy couple... but my mind was constantly on Charlotte... wondering if Dearie was able to cope, if Charlotte was cooperative, whether she had her feeding etc...

The kawaii gers @ my table, being the kawaii gers, saboed the wedding couple.... brot back fond memories of my wedding dinner 2 years ago when Dearie n me were oso saboed by his colligs... hee... his colligs had gone to great extent for the sabo mission, where they made 2 almond jellies resembling 'breasts' wif hershey kisses chocolate resembling nipples on them, a plate of chicken meat n a hand-toy, all of which were props of their sabo mission... we had engaged a 'live' photographer, Willie Foo, who took photographs which were immediately screened on the big screen for our guests' viewing pleasure, so it was rather embarrassing but fun! Willie oso printed the photographs of our guests in namecard sizes for them as souvenirs =)

After the dinner, CL's hubby, Rod, gave me a lift hm (Thanks, CL & Rod!) When me reached hm, Charlotte was playing wif the music mobile @ her cot & Dearie was using his laptop on the bed... hee! Thx Dearie, for taking care of Charlotte while me had fun outside =) Me oso bot Dearie a gift of cuff-links... glad he likes it n can use for his new 'Black Label' shirt bot @ G2000! =)

Both Dearie n me hv alwiz known that there are many advantages to bfeeding, for both baby and mother... so from the dae Charlotte was born, me hv been bfeeding her exclusively... it was tough @ 1st, especially when she had difficulty latching on properly... but luckily, the bfeeding consultant @ Mt A was very helpful n both Charlotte n me overcame the initial hurdles of bfeeding...

Initially, when we brought Charlotte out, me found bfeeding a great inconvenience as we nid to find nursing rooms... some nursing rooms dun provide privacy for nursing mums (no private rooms), some look unused n dirty (especially the dirty or dusty changing tables), some dun provide cushions for the hard benches... but me particularly like the rooms @ Bugis BHG n Marina Square, great privacy in a cubicle all to myself (n Dearie cos me will ask him to accompany me =)) His collig oso gave me a nursing top, which me used once in public, @ Bugis MOF, after our lunch when Charlotte oso demanded for her lunch... Remember once, me was bfeeding Charlotte in a nursing room @ Parkway Parade (a room shared by nursing mums n mums who wanna change their babies' diapers), Charlotte made a fuss n refused my milk, a Malay Auntie asked if itz my 1st child, mebbe she had deduced so from my inexperience... oh well... but now, my mindset on bfeeding had changed... found it 2b a great bonding & fulfilling journey wif Charlotte =)

Recently, there was an article in The Straits Times on the advantages of breastfeeding, in conjunction with the World Breastfeeding Week 08. The article stated that couples could save as much as $710 on formula milk from 6 months of exclusive bfeeding! Since me have been bfeeding Charlotte exclusively for 2 months, this in effect, translates to as much as $236 savings for us =) Not considered a huge sum of $$ but still...

Now, in between Charlotte's feeds (3 hour intervals), me will sometimes express the milk (oso to relieve engorgement "sobz") n store in the freezer... initially, me felt like a cow ("Moo...") =P But seeing the packets of frozen milk in the freezer brings me a great feeling of satisfaction... when me return to work, me will still need to express the milk once every 4 hours, so that my MIL can bottle feed her while me away from her @ work... hope that my supply wun drop, especially wif work stress... me realli hope 2b able to bfeed Charlotte for as long as I can... =)

My in-laws said Charlotte resembles Dearie, exactly a replica of him when he was a baby...

My parents said Charlotte
resembles me, when I was a baby too...

Hmm... seems like both our parents feel their grand-daughter
resembles their child... so we decided to try out the look-alike meter on the net... jus for fun =)

Results @ birth

Results @ 1 month

Results @ 2 months

Hmm... no matter whom Charlotte looks like, she will continue 2b our precious little ger =))

Charlotte, @ 2 months 1 dae old, dressed in the pink bodysuit which Auntie Cheongling bot 4 her.

3rd Aug 08 was our 99th month anniversary of being together. =) How time flies! Next month will mark our 100th month anniversary... Charlotte will be 3 months old by then too!

As per our monthly practice, we took our neo-cards @ Bugis Junction =) This time, we dressed Charlotte in pink... Dearie wore a red polo t-shirt while me wore a pink blouse, so as to match Charlotte's colour... We thot this way, the neo-card will turn out nice, wif us in co-ordinated colours. =P

Unlike last month when we took our neo-card, Charlotte was sleeping n looking kinda grumpy when me carried her outta her stroller, she was awake n looking more cheerful this month... indeed, she opened her mouth wide when we took the pic =)

Itz fun flipping thru our neo-card album now, where we c our journey since getting together to having a new addition - Charlotte to our family now... brings back sweet memories...
