Ydae was Ben & Jerry's Free Cone Day =) It was an annual affair... din queue up for it last year though there's one outlet near my workplace, SMRT HQ @ Suntec City...But dis year, me n some of my colligs went to queue for it @ the outlet @ Raffles City during lunch =) we purposely went to Burger King for lunch, n after lunch joined the super long queue which stretched from the shops opp MPH, curled around the Ben & Jerry's outlet, n back to MPH to a temporary stop set-up for free cones by Ben & Jerry's near the ATM machines... Told Dearie abt it n he was surprised dat me joined in the queue but nt surprised there's a queue... but he's v against queueing up for stuff... dun like to waste time on such stuff... so @ supermarkets, if there's a long queue, we wld nt buy our groceries unless we need the groceries v v urgently...But me got special privilege, whn we got to the point whr the staff gave us leaflets to prove our eligibility for a free cone, the staff told me quietly in a corner dat me can take the leaflet (signed by him) to the Ben & Jerry's counter n claim my free cone, dun nid to join the long queue after all... hee! me chose New York Fudge which is realli realli nice! chocolate flavour wif chocolate chunks! realli the highlight of my dae in the hot weather ydae! =))
Went for our 4th pre-natal class last Sat... 1st of 3 lessons on parentcraft =) Think the highlights of our lesson was watching 2 videos on natural birth n a tour of the delivery n post-natal wards...The 2 videos on natural birth, i wld say, provide gr8 insight into delivery processess for Dearie n me =P esp whn the baby's head is cmg out, Dearie squirmed n nearli freaked out... he kept repeating dat he'll remain by my head side during my delivery n wun approach the leg part... haha!! but when we see the head cm out, n the body cm out n the baby cry out, itz realli amazing n we felt itz realli worth it aft all! =)) hope me'll rem my breathing exercises whn itz my turn in Jun, or Dearie can help remind me too.... Mt Alvernia does not allow usage of video-cam during delivery n does not provide nite dresses for MTBs too... apparently, my collig who oso gave birth @ Mt A was not given clothes to dress her baby in whn discharged too... Sister Kang oso reminded hubbies abt the couch whr they shld rest on shld they feel giddy or dizzy fr the sight of blood during delivery, cos the nurses n gynae wld b too bz wif the mum n baby to care abt fainted daddies... heh! Btw, 4got to mention alot of MTBs in my class oso bot maternity clothes fr Perfect Mum! =) initialli wanted to wear a pink n yellow tube dress to class but changed my mind... luckily me din wear the tube dress cos another MTB wore the exact same tube dress! heh!
Went for 3rd pre-natal class last Sat. Our 2nd and last exercise session of our 7 sessions. Lesson focused on breathing techniques during labour, contractions... oso the signs b4 admitting myself to hospital...Jus to recap:SSO - Sigh Out Slowly during initial & last few stages of contractionsSSBO - Short Sharp Breathe Out when contractions get more intensePant Pant Blow - When you shouldn't push @ allThink the hubbies r more experienced wif breathing techniques than the MTBs... in fact, b4 the physiotherapist demo to us the breathing techniques, Dearie oredi demo to me, n correct some more! in the end, whn MTBs were to practise the different breathing techniques, me jus cldn't stop giggling n breathing @ same time... heehee! There r oso positions to adopt at certain stages of labour... we were oso tot to practise active labour, where we engage in 'C' position n take in a deep breathe n hold our breath n PUSH during contractions... but as we were onli practising during our lessons, the physiotherapist did warn us NOT to push, as she din wan any emergency labour to take plc... haha!nxt 4 lessons wil b on parentcraft, think Dearie wil b more engaged then =) nxt lesson wil oso include a tour of the delivery ward n hospital =)
10 Apr - woke up wif sore, swollen legs... esp painful when i walked... took urgent leave, meant to rest @ hm n rest both legs... since gg for gynae appt on sat, Dearie decided to take PM leave n accompany me for an earli appt wif Dr Lui, since me oso felt sharp pains in lower abdomen last nite... Dr Lui checked my tummy n foetus (regular movements n strong heartbeat), said everything's normal, no nid to worry cos v normal to experience water retention n swelling during pregnancy, he oso explained me din experience abdominal pains, but ligament pains... heh... *phew* given 2d mc to rest over the weekend... found resting wif both legs raised realli helps! baby Charlotte now weighs 2.02kg and my next appt is 3 weeks later...12 Apr - went for our 2nd pre-natal class which focused on exercises to relieve backaches, leg cramps etc as well as correct sitting, standing postures, correct way of getting up from bed... the part of the whole lesson which me enjoyed the most was massages! =) Dearie (like other hubbies around) massaged for me! heh! so enjoyable n soothing! nxt class dis Sat is oso on exercises, but dis time, nid 2b in shorts as will b stimulating labour... oso had a change in hairstyle, where me had my fringe cut =) hee...14 Apr - felt much better =) came back office n my collig, Zee, got me 2 big printer cartridge boxes to place under my desk so dat me can raise my legs while working =)
Been trying to look for Pigeon brand baby laundry detergent but jus no luck at all the supermarkets, despite trying Carrefour, NTUC Finest, Fairprice Extra etc. Finally we decided to jus buy the Kodomo brand last Sat... MIL had kindly offered to hand-wash all the baby clothings, so we went home n packed all the clothings, mittens, handkerchiefs, cloth diapers, swaddles, beddings, towels etc into a big paper bag n brot all to my in-laws' ydae... =) she said she'll wash in batches, then me wil select a set to dress Charlotte in on the dae of our discharge from Mt Alvernia n put in my bag =)Dearie's buddy, Soh's wife, Karina gave birth to baby Tristan on 7 Apr (3 daes b4 her EDD)... she's such a brave ger, braved thru the delivery alone under 2 hrs... baby Tristan is so cute! Soh said the feeling is jus indescribable... heehee! soon, it'll b our turn! cant wait 2 feel and see baby Charlotte in person too! =) so looking forward to being parents! =)Have started to call her Charlotte nowadays, instead of jus Baby... in dis way, wil b more intimate n me oso worried she wun recognise her name whn she's born.. so betta call her Charlotte nw, to get her used to her name... haha! but Dearie said me being foolish... oh well.. =PYdae nite during my sleep @ around 4am, suddenly attacked by sharp leg cramps in BOTH my legs! aiyo! 1st time happened in both legs! screamed n shook Dearie up fr his deep sleep... he got no choice but to massage for me... nw, both my legs stil feel v sore... =((
jus came back from our 1st pre-natal class... itz amazing to see so many MTBs in the same lecture room as us! there's a total of 6 classes n 1 complimentary class, much to our pleasant surprise =)
today's lesson is sorta a lecture on nutrition, following 2 classes on exercise (nid 2b in pants), last 3 classes on breastfeeding... the complimentary class is another lecture, nt sure wat it wil b on... by the last complimentary class, wil b v close to my EDD liao... seems like time flies! me 31 weeks liao... can c my tummy moving during the lecture tdy, baby Charlotte seems to be listening to the lecture too, since the purpose of our registering for these pre-natal classes is to prepare her arrival... she's the main focus aft all =)
learnt fr tdy's lesson too dat the ideal amount of weight gain is different for different ppl, depending on ur BMI (weight in kg before pregnancy divided by the square of height in metres)... if underweight b4 pregnancy, nid to gain more weight n the opposite for obese... me considered normal n ideal weight gain shd b around 18kg... hmm, since my weight gain @ 28 weeks was 15kg, keeping my fingers crossed abt my weight gain during my 32nd week checkup next Sat...
ydae was Dearie n my 95th month anniversary of being tog =) time realli flies! during our 100th mth anniversary, we'll hv a new addition to our family - baby Charlotte =) gonna take our monthly neo-card tmr since we'll b in the vicinity of Bugis... =P coincidentally the 2 tee-shirts me ordered 4 Dearie online wif my other colligs arrived ydae, which me gave him as gifts =) glad he liked them, wif the cute designs n wordings... hv pasted the 2 tee-shirts' designs below =)
